Patch testing

PLEASE ladies, never get eyelash extensions done anywhere without a patch test.Reactions are awful and can cause severe discomfort and even worse…. cause blindness. It is just not worth the risk. Even if you have had lashes for years and trying another salon or therapist, you still need to be patch tested with their glue.

That second patch test can really save a lot of hurt later on.

LASH TECHS: How do you patch test?

There are two ways of testing.

FIRST – BEHIND THE EAR. Why do I like this as my favourite way? Because it’s close to the eye, but not on the face. It touches the skin (which some don’t agree on) but a lash tech could easily drop a lash with glue on, so you need to know if allergic on the skin.

IF there was a reaction, at least it was behind the ear rather than on her eye.

Plus it’s quick and easy for therapist and client.

SECOND – APPLY LASHES – This is my least favourite as the glue doesn’t touch the skin. So what happens if you drop that lash on your client? Or your client moves suddenly and comes in contact with the glue? This patch test will not show up if allergic to the skin. It may show up if allergic to the fumes of the glue… but in a full set of lashes there will be many more fumes, so this is unlikely to show up a reaction.

Please note: patch tests are not 100% guaranteed and a reaction normally comes over a period of time once someone is having lashes ongoing.

So how do you patch test or what is your view?

Dreams

So I saw this notepad while shopping and had to get it for our show coming up as I thought it was very apt as being part of an exhibition and having our very own stand is a dream come true for my company!•

But the word “dream” I don’t normally use. Most People that use the word dream are normally “dreamers” dream of things but don’t do nothing about making it happen. Others like myself, if they have a “dream” they will do everything in there power to make that dream come true.

Have you got dreams and aspirations? Why don’t you get a notebook, write them down, think about them and make them happen 💗 Anything can come true if you put your heart, passion and positivity into it. No matter how big your “dreams” are.

Inner lash extensions

Getting those inner lashes perfect!.•

It is my pet hate seeing long inner lash extensions. They should be short all the time and gradually work up to the length that you want.

Why is this?

🔘 It will be uncomfortable for the client when they start to grow out.

🔘 If shorter, the shape your working on for your client will be more emphasised.

🔘 Inner lashes are shorter naturally.

🔘 Inner lashes cannot hold the weight of longer lashes, so keep natural lash safely in mind.

These lashes I started off with 0.05 B curl in 6mm, 7mm, then blended into 0.05 C curl, 0.08, 0.09.

So keep your inners short ladies 💗

Client Announcement

To all our dear clients,

I have sold the shares of KG Styling (Ampthill) and the new owner will take over as from February.

My reasons primarily for this decision is that I have grown the business as far as I can with the time I have. My other business commitments and opportunities are now taking me in different directions. Therefore in the best interest of KG Styling it’s time to step down and let someone else grow the company.

My Mum Karen Godfrey come on board a year ago to support the business but sadly my Nan is battling with cancer and Mum is her full time carer and therefore our priorities have changed.

The salon has gone from strength to strength and doing amazingly. I’m so proud of the fabulous team, their commitment and individual growth.

Rest assured that although the salon will be under new ownership the staff team, services, pricing and products are staying the same. So please carry on booking your appointments as normal being confident that you will be receiving the same highest standard of service.

KG and the new salon will still be working closely together and I wish the new owner all the success in the world. I look forward in watching it continue to grow.

Best wishes,

Katie Godfrey – Director of KG
